Event Details

Despite the fact that domestic violence affects one in four women in their lifetime, more than one-third of Americans have never discussed the issue with a friend or family member. Three in five believe that it is a difficult issue to discuss.

On October 27, YWCA Greater Cleveland is joining forces with The Allstate Foundation and top bloggers to break the silence and raise awareness about the issue through a free TweetUp event held at YWCA Greater Cleveland (4019 Prospect Ave., Cleveland). If 100 community members attend the TweetUp event in celebration of PurplePurse.com, The Allstate Foundation will donate up to $10,000 to YWCA Greater Cleveland. That is a $100 contribution for each guest who attends!

The free event is designed to spread the secret of PurplePurse.com. The site was created by the Allstate Foundation and appears to be an online fashion magazine, but when the user looks deeper, she will find a variety of information and resources specific to the issues of domestic violence and financial empowerment. The website serves as a tool to raise awareness about domestic violence and provides a safe and informative place for women to educate themselves and join the conversation about the issue.

A light lunch will be shared.

Please RSVP to let us know that you can join us on October 27 at 11 a.m. We hope to see you there!
